Dark Non Reflective Privacy Solar Film Rancho Palos Verdes

The Challenge

For this repeat customer it was all about the aesthetics. The goal was to make the top floor match the bottom floor as much as possible. The bottom row of glass has a dark window film applied to the interior side of the glass and directly behind it there is a wall, very common. The second floor has very old window film with no wall behind it that needs to be replaced (R&R) but it was imperative that the side of this building match nicely from the exterior because it is the very first building of over 5 in total you notice when entering the grounds. Since the second floor is a library and facing an outstanding view of the Pacific Ocean the film had to be very dark and non-reflective in order to match the 1st level but still be transparent enough as to not diminish that extra ordinary view.

The Solution

Saint-Gobain manufactures Solar Gard & Panorama commercial and residential window films, they are certainly one of our favorite brands but even though they have hundreds of window film product offerings in some rare occasions like this we sometimes find we have to look elsewhere to solve a solution that needs to fit a particular need. After sifting through many available selections we found a fairly inexpensive solar film (not Saint-Gobain) that matched their particular specifications well, within a few days we had the OK, in other words, we had a contract!

So maybe you're thinking great, where's the story here? Well, it's our duty to find you the 'BEST' solution, not 'a' solution... after digging in more about this low cost alternative we learned that the manufacturer's warranty was NOT going to cover glass breakage. We also learned that the warranty was only going to cover them for 5 years for film defects and such, that's pretty low for today's standards. Our recommendation was to hold off and find another alternative, one that would offer a thermal glass breakage warranty and better overall terms even though our customer wasn't too concerned about the lifespan of the new product. We knew we could do better for them so why not give it that extra effort? After a few calls we did just that and arranged to have samples of 'Hanita Tek' Natura 7 overnighted to us. It turned out to be a great match! Now instead of 0 yr's glass breakage warranty we secured a 5 year and 15 year manufacturers warranty that coveres the film from defects ect... We waived the added film costs and the final result? How does it look?
